Transmission |
|
Transmission
lines are responsible for carrying the bulk power from
the generating station to distribution substations and
are generally on very tall steel or wooden towers. They
may travel through residential areas but the voltage
in them is too great to safely use to light homes, schools,
etc. To ensure safe delivery to these buildings, the
voltage is reduced through a series of "step down"
transformers once it is near its point of use.
