Water Heaters

Tips:

Ensure your next water heater is an energy efficient model.

OSO Hot water heaters should be flushed out at least once a year. Water heaters are equipped with a drain valve at the bottom of the tank. This drain valve is equipped with a standard hose bib that can be attached to a regular garden hose. To drain your tank, first ensure the power is turned off to the tank, attach the hose and run the other end to an adequate drain. While leaving water pressure on, Open the drain valve and allow water to run through the hose until it is clear. The time it takes can very from tank to tank depending on water quality. This will ensure sediments in the tank have been removed. Close the valve hand-tight and remove the hose. If sediment clogs up the drain valve, close the drain and contact our service department.

Use cold water in your wash whenever possible.

Leaky faucets can waste water and energy. One drip per second can cost up to 40 dollars a year in energy losses. Wash full loads in the dishwasher and use the econo wash feature.

In colder months after having a bath, leave the hot water in the tub so the heat from the water is released into the air. Unplug the tub once the water has reached room temperature.

Take safety precautions if you have small children in your home to ensure they could not fall into an unsupervised tub.

Install low flow showerheads and flow-restricted faucets where possible.

Use cold water instead of hot to soak pots and pans which require scouring.
