Rate Increase for Saint John Energy Customers, effective April 1, 2017
Saint John, NB – Saint John Energy is advising customers in all classes of an upcoming increase in rates effective April 1, 2017.
The increase stems from the Energy and Utilities Board’s (EUB) decision allowing NB Power to increase its rates by an average of 1.77% in all classes, including wholesale rates. The breakdown of Saint John Energy’s rate increase are as follows:
- Residential - 2.07%
- General Service 1.55%
- All other rate classes 1.77%
The EUB has approved a methodology for NB Power that addresses the cost to serve specific rate classes in a fair and equitable manner. Saint John Energy has applied the same rationale in their rate setting and as a result has adopted differential rate increases effective April 1, 2017.
